Welcome New Editors

Surface Science Spectra (SSS) is pleased to have two new editors! Professor James Castle of the University of Surrey will serve as the Senior Editor and Dr. Richard Haasch from the University of Illinois as Editor.

Dr. Stephen Gaarenstroom, recently retired from General Motors, has dedicated over 15 years to maintaining and growing the Surface Science Spectra database and journal into a most cost effective tool for archiving surface science spectra of technological and scientific interest.

SSS now includes data from more than 110 labs worldwide, contributions from over 480 authors, and 4,170 individual spectra from more than 780 materials. “SSS is recognized as a valuable database for all the community working on the XPS of organic and inorganic materials,” states Dr. Davide Barreca, University of Padova.

It is with many thanks and great appreciation that we wish Steve Gaarenstroom all the best as he moves on to new adventures. We are glad he will graciously continue to be available during this transition time. The AVS Publications Office is looking forward to helping our two new distinguished editors.
